HOW TO BECOME A MASSIVELY SUCCESSFUL FREELANCER?

Freelancer, business owner, entrepreneur…so tempting words. Nowadays a lot of people seek the freedom and value that being a freelancer or a business owner gives you. I associate those words with freedom and dream life. Unfortunately, getting started can be hard and very overwhelming. But I guarantee you it is a very interesting journey. You are going to learn a lot of things on your way to success. So how to become a successful freelancer/business owner when you are just starting out?

I am going to share my top 5 secrets from my own experience! Let’s get started!


1. START AS A FREELANCER WHILE WORKING FULL TIME

If you have a dream of living a life of a freelancer or a business owner start already why you still have your full time work. Don’t just quit your job and think that you will go into freelancing full time without having a plan or any income. You should have an income to pay your bills and that you can invest in your business right? Therefore, while still working full time in an office dedicate your free time to develop your projects. Grow your client list working during evening and weekends until you consider you have enough freelance work or enough income to quit your day job.


2. DON'T PUT ALL YOUR EGGS (YOUR $$$) IN ONE BASKET

Here I talk about your money. While having a big contract or one main client which generates your 70% of your income can seem tempting, but risky. Actually, you become very dependent on this one client and it is not a very good situation. Imagine what can happen if suddenly you lose this one important client? Or you can get so comfortable with this situation that you won’t be motivated to look for new clients as well, as you already have a stable income stream.

 

3. ACCOMPLISH MORE WITH LESS

You can earn and accomplish more with less time. My recommendation for you is to work for a fixed-projects that you know you can accomplish with less time. Usually freelancers are getting paid per hours they are working. But my recommendation is to develop your fixed-price projects. Where you are getting paid per project, but in reality you can accomplish the work with less time, meaning you can get on more projects! Resulting in more income for you! By working as freelance for fixed-price projects almost the same amount of hours, you can managed to almost double your income.

 

4. HELP OTHERS AND OTHERS WILL HELP YOU

Very often new freelancers get overwhelmed with projects, as they are trying to take as much of them as they can manage. At the end getting burnt out. Don’t do like that. Learn to delegate your work! You can find other freelancers who will be more than happy to help you and build their portfolio with you. I am sure that if you help them with projects, they will help you as well.

 

5. CREATE A PASSIVE INCOME

Constantly looking for projects and new clients can be very hard. It is nice to generate some resources that can generate you a passive source of income. My recommendation is to take your time and think of some resources that after will generate you a nice income. Some ideas: digital books, e-courses, actual merchandising or your own brand.
